On February 6 and 7 1998, the Barambah Beltout Festival was held in Murgon, Queensland. A special aspect of the fifth annual festival was the "Emerging Artists Showcase", an initiative aimed specifically at the young, up and coming artists with a view of promoting and spreading awareness about their works. This initiative was partly funded by the Music Fund of the Australia Council and the Brisbane-based indigenous record company, Daki Budtcha.
